1st house call

It is my second week at the internship and today i got to try out sales. The day before i went out with one of the guys to see how it goes and was also given a sales folder. They gave me the lead and one of the guys came out with me on the sale. I am not good at sales but this is practice for my own sake. Nothing at risk, right? Well I tried to practice the sales pitch the night before and tried not to get nervous, which didn't work. I went out to the house which was in BFE like south kendall area. The old lady was really nice and invited us in. I got nervous and forgot important parts of the pitch. I got my composure together at the end and was making progress untill we asked her about her hot water. Sucks for us that she has a gas heater and her son is in that industry so she gets it for free. So our whole game was off. We wasted time going around looking to see what we could recommend for lowering her energy bill. It was oddly high for an old lady who only has oneother person living with her. 300 bucks plus she had free gas so we were stumped at why it was so high. We offered some advice but left quickly as our sale was already done with. So my first attempt was a big fail. I will try harder next time. I plan on reading and reviewing that sales pitch till i know it by memory. Hopefully next week I can go out in the field and learn how to do some installaton which is what i really wanna learn.
